Phillip and I had been together for nearly a year now. We’d found a nice place just outside Glasgow; Phil had always said he wanted a house built into a mountain, but I had insisted on something more traditional. We decided on a one bedroom apartment with a nice view of the river. Things were going well. That is, until I found the envelope.
It looked like any normal envelope that contained a bill. Upon opening it, I was shocked to discover it was a check written in payment to Phil from a company called Glasgow escorts. I nearly had a fit, waving it around at his face.
“It’s just a side job!” he assured me.
“You don’t…”
“No, I don’t get with other ladies!”
“Okay,” I conceded. “Just don’t do anything stupid.”
“You mean like marrying you?” he joked.
“Oh shush!” I replied, giving him a nasty pinch.
